Piaget has just unveiled a new high jewelry timepiece — the Polo Emperador Skeleton Tourbillon High Jewelry Watch. The brand’s iconic cushion-shaped case and skeletonized movement are adorned with an exceptionally lavish gem setting. A total of 1,373 brilliant-cut diamonds and 53 custom-cut emeralds illuminate the watch, transforming it into a dazzling piece of horological jewelry.
49mm White Gold Cushion-Shaped Case
The 49mm white gold cushion-shaped case measures just 10.2mm thick. The bezel is set with custom-cut step-cut emeralds arranged in a graduated sequence that perfectly follows the case’s contours, emphasizing the collection’s signature “round outside, square inside” design language. The lugs are set with custom-cut diamonds, while the crown features a long step-cut diamond. In total, the gem-setting process for the case alone required over 136 hours of meticulous craftsmanship.
Openworked Dial and Tourbillon Movement
The fully openworked dial adopts an off-centered hours and minutes display, maximizing the visual impact of the skeletonized movement’s gem setting and finishing. The bridges are set with brilliant-cut diamonds, while both the rotor and tourbillon carriage are adorned with step-cut diamonds. The most eye-catching detail is the micro-rotor at 9 o’clock, set with custom-cut trapeze-shaped emeralds arranged in a fan formation — a breathtaking spectacle that shimmers with every motion of the wrist.
Piaget Caliber 1270D – Ultra-Thin Skeletonized Movement
Powering the watch is Piaget’s in-house caliber 1270D, an ultra-thin skeletonized self-winding tourbillon movement set with gemstones. Beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, it offers a 40-hour power reserve. The 14K white gold movement is composed of 214 components and measures only 6mm thick. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, one can admire the diamond-paved reverse side of the skeletonized bridges, with ruby jewels serving as vivid visual highlights.
