Case & Design Language
The Parmigiani Tonda 1950 Skeleton Watch features a refined 39 mm case crafted from 18K white gold. Its slim profile and soft curves ensure excellent wrist comfort, making it ideal for both formal and everyday wear.
The skeletonized dial reveals the fully openworked movement, where each bridge has been carefully shaped and finished with a brushed texture. This enhances the watch’s technical character while maintaining visual depth and legibility. The balance between negative space and structural integrity is one of the key design achievements of this model.
Movement & Mechanical Innovation
At the heart of the watch lies the self-winding Caliber PF705, developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. This movement is derived from the VMF5300 but completely reworked and skeletonized by Parmigiani’s own watchmakers.
Its most distinctive feature is the use of a micro-rotor, allowing the movement to remain exceptionally thin at only 2.6 mm thick. The movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivers a practical 42-hour power reserve.
Through the sapphire case back, collectors can admire the intricate architecture, hollowed bridges, and fine finishing — an excellent example of modern Swiss haute horlogerie.
Wearability & Practical Use
The watch is paired with a premium alligator leather strap secured by an 18K white gold pin buckle. It offers a water resistance of 30 meters, making it suitable for daily wear while maintaining its elegant character.
Despite its skeletonized design, the Tonda 1950 remains highly legible thanks to its finely shaped hands and minimalist markers.
