BVLGARI Octo Roma Striking Tourbillon Sapphire Review
In 2023, BVLGARI introduced the Octo Roma Striking Tourbillon Sapphire, a bold and futuristic evolution of the Octo Roma collection. Designed around transparency, geometry, and architectural watchmaking, the piece features a sapphire crystal mid-case framed by a black DLC-coated titanium exterior. Fluorescent green hour markers illuminate the structure, giving the watch a striking visual identity that blends avant-garde design with traditional haute horlogerie craftsmanship. 
The 44 mm outer case is crafted from black DLC-coated titanium, retaining the sharp octagonal geometry that defines the Octo design language. The transparent sapphire mid-case is precisely machined, providing a panoramic view of the movement’s architecture. Light enters from multiple angles, enhancing the floating effect of the skeletonized bridges and revealing every mechanical animation within the watch. 
Inside the case, the highly skeletonized movement appears suspended in space. Eleven bridges extend radially from the center, serving as both functional supports and hour markers. Each is coated with fluorescent green Super-LumiNova, creating a vivid contrast against the deep black titanium exterior. The barrel is positioned at 12 o’clock, while the flying tourbillon occupies the 6 o’clock position, forming a perfectly symmetrical vertical layout that defines the visual balance of the watch. 
At 3 o’clock, a small aperture on one of the bridges serves as a crown position indicator. It is controlled by a black ceramic pusher integrated into the crown:
- When the indicator turns red, the crown is in the time-setting position.
- Pressing the ceramic pusher returns the indicator to black, locking the setting mechanism.
The watch is powered by the BVL 206 hand-wound skeleton movement, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offering a 64-hour power reserve. On the reverse side, a green power-reserve indicator adds an additional functional and visual element. Movement finishing remains consistent with BVLGARI’s modern high-complication standards, combining precision engineering with open-worked aesthetics. Fitted with a black alligator leather strap and titanium pin buckle, the piece maintains lightweight comfort despite its bold dimensions. The official retail price has not yet been announced, but expectations place it in the upper tier of BVLGARI’s haute horlogerie lineup.
