The Hermès Arceau L’Heure de la Lune was one of the most remarkable creations presented by Hermès at SIHH 2019. Instead of creating a traditional moonphase watch, Hermès reinterpreted the concept entirely. Using laser engraving, the brand depicted two complete moons on the dial — the upper moon at 12 o’clock representing the Southern Hemisphere, and the lower moon at 6 o’clock representing the Northern Hemisphere.
The hour–minute and date subdials orbit slowly around the dial like twin celestial bodies, covering and uncovering the moons to display the lunar phases. Their rotational cycle perfectly matches that of the actual Moon, offering a harmonious balance between artistic expression and astronomical precision.The gray-black meteorite dial enhances the watch’s cosmic allure. Upon closer inspection, one can discover a faintly visible Pegasus motif engraved on the upper moon — a subtle, whimsical detail that reflects Hermès’ poetic craftsmanship.
The 43 mm white gold case retains the Arceau collection’s signature asymmetric stirrup-shaped lugs, combining elegance with quiet strength.
