This platinum bracelet draws inspiration from the chain of a vintage Tiffany pocket watch, making it one of the most striking creations in this year’s Blue Book collection.
Francesca Amfitheatrof, Tiffany’s Artistic Director for Jewelry, discovered a distinctive “octopus pocket watch” in the brand’s antique archives, whose chain was composed of interlocking looped links resembling entwined little octopuses. She decided to reinterpret this motif in the new Blue Book collection.
However, translating such a complex design into fine jewelry was no easy feat. Each link’s wax model had to be meticulously calculated in size — from the large central wave-shaped links to the smallest ones at the ends. After casting, every link required precise craftsmanship to interlock seamlessly, ensuring graceful curves while also leaving space for diamond setting.
To create a sense of dimensionality, diamonds were set at alternating angles along the bracelet. Each stone was mounted with individual prongs, allowing the fire of the diamonds to shine even along the curves and twists of the design.
The finished bracelet drapes softly and fluidly around the wrist — light, supple, and shimmering like rippling waves of water.
