Both the “Bird of Paradise” and the “Ladybug” have appeared in Van Cleef & Arpels’ early jewelry creations, and this year, they reemerge as the themes of two new Lady Arpels Jour watches. Each piece transforms a lush floral scene into a miniature artwork through the use of enamel and gem-setting craftsmanship.
The white gold dial is composed of two layers: the upper layer features champlevé enamel work set with diamonds, while the lower layer showcases cloisonné enamel detailing. As time passes, the lower dial slowly rotates—completing one full revolution every 24 hours—allowing the wearer to witness delicate animated scenes such as a “bird of paradise sipping nectar” or a “ladybug flying toward a clover leaf.”
In the Lady Arpels Jour series, Van Cleef & Arpels focuses not on traditional mechanical complexity, but on the poetic beauty of movement—creating emotional resonance through artistic storytelling that makes one forget the passage of time.
