The Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G made its debut at the 2019 Baselworld Watch Fair as the first two-tone chronograph in the Black Bay series. The “S&G” name refers to the use of steel and gold, a combination that gives the watch a luxurious presence while maintaining excellent wearability. This upgraded model merges Tudor’s heritage diving DNA with classic motorsport chronograph styling, resulting in one of the most versatile models in the modern Black Bay lineup.
Case Design of the Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G
The watch features a 41 mm stainless-steel case paired with a polished solid-gold bezel and a matching gold screw-down crown. The tachymeter scale on the bezel is engraved in gold, reinforcing its vintage automotive inspiration. All surfaces are finished with Tudor’s signature brushing and polishing for a refined, balanced look.
Despite the premium materials, the piece remains lighter and more comfortable than a full-gold chronograph, making it suitable for everyday wear.
Dial, Hands & Legibility
The domed black dial features gold-plated applied indexes, gold serif typography, and the unmistakable Snowflake hands exclusive to Tudor. Two sunken sub-dials provide a sculpted 3D effect. At 3 o’clock lies the 45-minute chronograph counter, while the 9 o’clock sub-dial displays running seconds. A compact date window sits neatly at 6 o’clock.
Movement — Caliber MT5813
At its core, the Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G houses the Caliber MT5813, a COSC-certified automatic movement developed in partnership with Breitling. Based on the Breitling B01 architecture, it incorporates a column wheel, a vertical clutch system, and Tudor’s in-house silicon balance spring. The movement delivers an impressive 70-hour power reserve, ensuring dependable performance whether worn daily or over a weekend.
