RICHARD MILLE RM 032 Diver Flyback Chronograph Review

During the 2021 Blue Hole Deep Challenge held in the Bahamas, RICHARD MILLE’s brand partner, French free diver Arnaud Jerald, wore the RICHARD MILLE RM 032 watch. Jerald broke the world record for free-diving depth twice, reaching an unprecedented 117 meters below the surface.

The RM 032 is one of the most complex diver’s watches ever created by RICHARD MILLE. It features an annual calendar, chronograph, and flyback function. Designed for deep-sea diving, it guarantees reliability even at depths of 300 meters.

With a commanding 50 mm diameter and 17.8 mm thickness, the RM 032 has an imposing wrist presence, ideal for underwater conditions where visibility and operability are crucial. Despite its size, the use of Grade 5 titanium ensures it remains lightweight and comfortable for the wearer. The three-part bezel is secured with 22 screws, and rotation requires pressing the buttons at 12 and 6 o’clock, preventing accidental adjustments underwater.

The crown features a locking mechanism. When the inner ring shows a red triangle, the crown and chronograph pushers are locked; rotating to the green triangle unlocks them, ensuring safety during intense activities.

The skeletonized dial offers excellent legibility, with a black baseplate that provides high contrast. The watch has a “Marqueur de Marche” running indicator at 3 o’clock, a large date display at 12 o’clock, and an annual calendar month aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock. The chronograph system includes centrally mounted chronograph seconds and minutes hands, with a 12-hour totalizer at 6 o’clock. The reset function at 4 o’clock makes it easy to reset all hands instantly.

Inside, the RMAC2 automatic winding movement beats at 28,800 vph and provides a 50-hour power reserve. It’s crafted from titanium, treated with a black PVD coating, and features a variable-inertia balance wheel for precise timekeeping.

The RM 032 is priced at €155,500 and is fitted with a black rubber strap for comfort and durability in any condition.
