Chanel N°5 Crystal Gemstone Ring Series – A Tribute to Perfume and Jewelry Art
The Chanel N°5 Crystal Gemstone Ring Series was launched in 2021 as part of CHANEL’s high jewelry collection inspired by the iconic N°5 fragrance. Each ring pays homage to one of the three natural flowers used in the perfume — ylang ylang, May rose and Grasse jasmine — translating olfactory notes into tangible jewelry artistry through crystal, gemstones, and refined craftsmanship.
Design Philosophy Behind the Crystal Gemstone Ring Series
CHANEL reimagines the perfume’s floral ingredients in jewelry form. The Crystal Gemstone Ring Series uses a custom-cut octagonal crystal top, echoing the shape of the legendary N°5 perfume bottle. This crystal top allows light to refract through the setting, giving each ring a luminous, ethereal quality. The crystal is secured with a gold bezel and forms the stage for floral gemstone arrangements that reflect each flower’s character.
Ylang Ylang Ring – Sunlit Yellow Glow
The Ylang Ylang ring captures the exotic yellow warmth associated with ylang ylang. Its band of custom-cut crystal supports a round-cut yellow sapphire at the center, surrounded by yellow sapphires and diamonds. Through the crystal, a delicate petal pattern can be viewed, evoking the curling petals of the flower. The side of the ring band features a sun motif, paying tribute to CHANEL’s historic “Bijoux de Diamants” collection from 1932, and reinforcing the radiant character of sunshine at dawn.
May Rose Ring – Romantic Pink Elegance
For the May Rose ring, CHANEL selected rose gold paired with pink sapphires to express softness and romance. At the center of the crystal face sits an oval-cut diamond bezel-set in gold, sparkling like morning dew on petals. Surrounding it is a layer of diamond pavé shaped like rose petals, accented with suspended pink sapphires that add vibrant brilliance. The effect is delicate and feminine — as if wearing a living rose on the finger.
Grasse Jasmine Ring – Pure White Blossom
The Grasse Jasmine ring channels the freshness and purity of jasmine blooms. The platinum setting and crystal band are adorned with round-cut diamonds forming three-dimensional jasmine petals, creating the illusion of a blooming flower. Two five-pointed stars decorate the gold portion of the band, echoing the central diamond’s fire and adding a shimmering celestial detail — as though the wearer carries a piece of dawn-lit sky.
