Hermes introduces the new **Hermes Arceau Le Temps Suspendu**, unveiled at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2025. This latest evolution of the iconic “time suspension” complication expands upon the poetic concept introduced in 2011. The most striking upgrade is the transparent sapphire crystal placed at the center of the dial, offering a direct view of the mechanical choreography beneath and reinforcing the watch’s luxurious sense of depth.
White Gold Case and Signature Arceau Aesthetics
The watch features a 42 mm 18K white gold case paired with the Arceau collection’s signature asymmetrical stirrup lugs—an instantly recognizable Hermes design element created by Henri d’Origny in 1978. These flowing lugs complement the elegant curvature of the case, reinforcing the refined identity of the line. The crown sits at 2 o’clock, while a discreet pusher at 9 o’clock activates the model’s trademark complication.
Sapphire Center Window and Dial Architecture
The champagne-tone dial features three distinct finishing styles. The hour and minute track is sunburst-brushed and decorated with playful, running Arabic numerals. The retrograde date sector at 5 o’clock and the dedicated “time suspended” zone at 12 o’clock use a frosted matte texture. The centerpiece—an open sapphire crystal window—reveals the motion of the gear train, a rare feature in dress complications and a dramatic aesthetic addition.
Pressing the pusher at 9 o’clock triggers the **time suspension** mechanism: the hour and minute hands instantly jump to frame the 12 o’clock position, pointing to a “non-existent” moment beyond measurable time. During this mode, the movement continues running normally. With another press, the hands snap back to the real present time, symbolizing a return from a brief escape.

Powering the watch is the automatic **Hermes H1837 movement**, beating at 28,800 vph with a 45-hour power reserve. Although the hands pause during the suspension mode, the movement itself never stops, ensuring mechanical accuracy. The bridges and rotor are decorated with the signature Hermes “H” motif, combining modern style with classical finishing.
The watch is paired with a champagne-colored alligator strap crafted in the Hermes leather ateliers.
