This pendant necklace is part of Bulgari’s 2016 Magnificent Inspirations collection. Through a compact honeycomb structure, it reinterprets Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti motif, transforming the serpent into a geometric and contemporary design.
The sculptural snake-head pendant is composed of interconnected hexagonal “scales,” with narrow gaps between them that lend the piece a sense of lightness and fluidity. The design draws inspiration from early 1970s Bulgari Serpenti bracelets, whose hexagonal enamel scales—rendered in deep shades of red, green, and blue—formed a sinuously patterned serpent body.
The top scales of the snake’s head are set with calibré-cut cabochon amethysts, each one individually shaped to fit the geometric contours of the design. The border scales are pavé-set with small round diamonds, adding brilliance and luxury, while two pear-shaped emeralds form the vivid, lively eyes of the serpent.
The chain links echo the pendant’s design, featuring elongated hexagonal shapes set with round diamonds and cabochon-cut amethysts, harmoniously uniting the composition.
