Dior launched this Bleu Cyan Paraiba ring in 2019 as part of its new high jewelry series, “Gem Dior.” The theme revolves around the magnificent colors of the Paraiba Tourmaline. The entire ring consists of more than 20 Paraiba tourmalines in various shapes, showcasing the gorgeous lake blue color. The name “Bleu” and “Cyan” in the ring’s title refer to “blue” and “cyan.
The Paraiba tourmaline is the most precious variety of tourmaline due to its copper content, which gives it its bright aqua blue color. This gem often contains impurities and cracks, making it rare to find pure, large pieces.
The entire ring features over 20 Paraiba tourmalines arranged in a brocade design, showcasing clear aqua blue for a striking visual impact. The central main stone is a cushion cut, held by four white gold prongs, with a diamond-encrusted band. The outer ring surrounding the main stone is adorned with side stones of different shapes, such as oval, teardrop, and square cuts, stacked and staggered to create a rich visual hierarchy.
The ring setting is also unique, with the designer outlining it in white gold, creating a slender creased silhouette. This transforms the traditional round ring into a modern geometric frame. The band is decorated with brilliant round diamonds, enhancing the bright hue of the Paraiba tourmaline.
