To celebrate the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Hublot released this striking limited-edition model — the Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono, equipped with the brand’s first soccer-specific chronograph movement, the HUB1260. Limited to 300 pieces, it perfectly blends Swiss precision with the passionate energy of world football.
The dial layout is what makes this watch truly unique. The hour and minute subdial sits at 6 o’clock, the seconds counter at 9 o’clock, and at 12 o’clock lies the bi-retrograde chronograph display, featuring a 60-minute sector designed specifically for timing football halves. Below it, a small aperture shows the match phase indicator, switching between “1”, “1/2”, “2”, and “END” for the first half, halftime, second half, and end of the match.
The two chronograph hands — a yellow minute hand and a green second hand — correspond to yellow and green scale markings, a direct homage to the colors of the Brazilian flag. Both hands move from left to right in a retrograde motion, snapping back to zero at the end of each interval.
The in-house HUB1260 automatic movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 72-hour power reserve, remarkable for a chronograph of this complexity.
