A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus Stainless Steel Watch Review
The A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus stainless steel watch debuted in 2019 as the brand’s first serially produced steel sports model. It represents a striking departure from traditional Lange design language and introduces a more contemporary, everyday-wearable aesthetic.
Case Design and Water Resistance
This model is the first from the brand to feature a fully waterproof construction. Both the crown and case back are screw-down, providing 120 meters of water resistance. The 40.5 mm diameter gives the watch a balanced presence suitable for daily use.
The case connects seamlessly to wide lugs, while two tapered pushers on the right side are integrated into the case architecture. These pushers adjust the day and date indications.
Dial Layout and Finishing
The dark blue dial features a finely grained center texture. Surrounding it is an azurage-finished hour ring that adds depth through its concentric pattern. Applied hour markers and an inclined minute scale ring give the dial strong dimensionality. The red-highlighted 60 adds a functional and visual accent.
The dial uses a small-seconds layout. Hands and markers are crafted from white gold. At 3 o’clock sits the oversized date display, balanced visually by the day window at 9 o’clock. The frames of both windows follow the gentle curvature of the bezel, giving the design a unified flow.
Movement: L155.1 DATOMATIC
Inside the watch is the newly developed L155.1 DATOMATIC automatic movement. The name reflects its functions: date and automatic winding. It contains 312 components, operates at 28,800 vph, and offers a 50-hour power reserve.
The central rotor section is skeletonized to showcase the detailed finishing typical of A. Lange & Söhne.
Bracelet and Adjustability
The stainless-steel bracelet is individually engineered for the Odysseus. Each link is polished and chamfered, and the bracelet integrates a quick-adjustment mechanism, enabling size changes without opening the clasp. The adjustment range is up to 7 mm.
The retail price is €38,900, positioning the Odysseus among the most premium stainless-steel luxury sports watches.
