Piazza San Pietro, located in front of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, was designed by the Italian architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the 17th century. The square features a unique architectural layout where trapezoidal and elliptical shapes converge.
The designer captures the circular outline of St. Peter’s Square in rose gold, complemented by pear-shaped diamonds resembling the radiating pathways of the square. Alternating and overlapping geometric elements create a balanced and expansive visual effect, echoing Bernini’s architectural aesthetics. The collar is symmetrically set with round-cut diamonds, sapphires, and emeralds, their colors striking and vibrant.
The necklace’s pendant is undoubtedly the visual focus of the entire piece, centered with the 13.09-carat oval-cut Ethiopian emerald. Emeralds from this specific origin are colored by both chromium and vanadium elements, granting them a rich green hue comparable to Colombian emeralds, combined with the notable clarity often associated with Zambian stones.
Radiating from the central stone, the pendant extends with patterns crafted from diamonds and platinum. A fringe suspended below is linked together by diamond and emerald beads, sapphire beads, and pear-shaped diamonds. This combination of geometric elements once again echoes the inspirational theme of the entire piece: Piazza San Pietro.
