These delightful Caméléons brooches are part of Van Cleef & Arpels’ “L’Arche de Noé” High Jewelry collection, inspired by the story of Noah’s Ark. The designers combined colored sapphires and diamonds in various cuts to evoke the chameleons’ vividly patterned skin, radiating a sense of wonder and mystery.
The two chameleons share similar expressions yet display subtle differences in movement. One climbs playfully along a branch, its tail coiled around an oval purple sapphire, while the other tightly wraps its tail around the trunk, holding an oval pink sapphire in its forelimbs as though presenting a freshly caught treasure.

Crafted in polished rose gold, the brooches are set with colored sapphires and both round and square-cut diamonds, creating intricate multicolored patterns. Instead of traditional prong settings, the gemstones are inlaid directly into the rose gold, as if naturally embedded within the chameleons’ skin, giving the pieces a lively and organic feel.

The reverse side is equally refined. The chameleons’ heads are accented with gemstone markings, while their hind legs fold discreetly against their bodies. The undersides are hollowed to maintain lightness, making the brooches appear like delicate creatures resting gracefully on the wearer’s chest.

Every detail is rendered with exceptional craftsmanship — the backs are edged with three rows of colorful sapphires, evoking slender spines, while the eyes are composed of cabochon rubellites and amethysts, topped with olive-shaped rose gold motifs that symbolize the chameleons’ agile, alert gaze as they curiously observe their surroundings.
