Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph 5500V Review
This year at SIHH, Vacheron Constantin unveiled the new Overseas Chronograph 5500V, representing the brand’s sportiest interpretation of the Overseas series. The 42.5 mm stainless steel case preserves classic Overseas design cues, including a hexagonal Maltese cross-inspired bezel, barrel-shaped case, and ergonomic “undercut” lugs for maximum comfort.
Blue Dial & Classic Overseas Design
The blue sunburst dial is paired with silver hands and features a practical layout: a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, small seconds at 9 o’clock, and a date window at 4:30. The slightly off-center date preserves legibility while maintaining signature Overseas symmetry.
In-House Caliber 5200 – Precision & Heritage
The Caliber 5200 is Vacheron Constantin’s first self-winding chronograph movement in the Overseas series, developed over five years. With 236 components, a Maltese cross-shaped column wheel, dual barrels for a 52-hour power reserve, and a soft iron anti-magnetic ring, it combines robustness with refined finishing. The 22K gold rotor engraved with a wind rose is visible through the sapphire case back and carries the Hallmark of Geneva.
Interchangeable Strap System
One of the standout features of the new Overseas is the interchangeable strap system. A simple lever allows quick swapping between stainless steel, leather, or blue rubber straps. The blue rubber strap is particularly recommended for a sporty and elegant look, ideal for both casual and professional settings.
