This is Vacheron Constantin’s third ballet-themed piece in the Métiers d’Art collection. The design is inspired by Edgar Degas’ ballerina paintings, with enamel artisans selecting three works that best represent the daily life of ballerinas. Using high-temperature gray enamel painting, the scenes capture the most important moments of a dancer’s study, rehearsal, and performance.

The gray enamel technique is typically applied on black enamel surfaces. Here, the artisans chose a semi-transparent brown enamel base to emphasize subtle color differences and enhance tonal depth. On this base, they used fine needles and ultra-thin brushes, along with Limoges white enamel, to create gradations and bring out the unique characteristics of the pigments. The result achieves realistic depth without the aid of vivid pigments or additional materials.

The watch is powered by Vacheron Constantin’s in-house 2460 SC movement, bearing the Geneva Seal. It features a sapphire display back with a hinged case, allowing the wearer to appreciate the movement and detailed finishing of the components. The overall design is understated and classical, reflecting meticulous attention to detail.
