At this year’s Watches & Wonders, Vacheron Constantin unveiled a refined vintage-style chronograph — the Les Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955. Measuring 38.5mm, this elegant men’s watch faithfully reinterprets the rare 1950s Reference 6087, one of the maison’s most collectible vintage chronographs.
The name “Cornes de Vache” literally means “cow horns”, referring to the uniquely shaped lugs that curve gracefully outward, resembling a pair of horns — a hallmark design that has become an icon among Vacheron’s classic chronographs.
The watch features a white dial with railway minute track, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. The chronograph’s central seconds and minute hands are crafted from blued steel, ensuring excellent legibility and an elegant contrast.
Housed in a 38.5mm platinum case only 10.9mm thick, the watch is powered by the Caliber 1142 manual-winding movement, derived from the legendary Lemania 2310. This column-wheel chronograph movement is meticulously finished, with Vacheron’s signature Maltese cross engraved on the column wheel. It beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a 48-hour power reserve.
The Cornes de Vache 1955 stands out as one of the most graceful manual chronographs available today — refined in size, steeped in heritage, and finished in precious platinum. The retail price is USD 75,000.
