Piaget has long been known for its commitment to ultra-thin designs, a pursuit that has led to groundbreaking achievements like the thinnest mechanical watch and the thinnest skeleton watch. This year at SIHH, Piaget unveiled the world’s thinnest chronograph, the Altiplano Chronograph, powered by the all-new Caliber 883P ultra-thin movement.
The Altiplano Chronograph features a 41mm case diameter and a remarkably slim 8.24mm thickness, making it an incredibly lightweight and comfortable chronograph to wear.
The dial layout continues the minimalist style that Altiplano is known for, with column-style hour markers and excellent legibility. The 30-minute chronograph counter is located at 3 o’clock, while the seconds hand resides at 6 o’clock.
One of the surprises is the addition of a second time zone display at 9 o’clock, allowing this chronograph to serve as a dual-time zone watch. Combining these two useful complications into one watch is a thoughtful design choice, making it even more versatile for travelers.
The watch is powered by the newly developed Caliber 883P movement, a 4.65mm thick chronograph movement based on Piaget’s renowned Caliber 880P. The movement offers a flyback function for the chronograph seconds hand, 28,800 vph frequency, and a 50-hour power reserve.
