This “Couleur” ring is part of Louis Vuitton’s Pierres de Centre
high jewelry collection. In French, “Couleur” means “color”, and the key design element of this ring is to highlight the vibrant hues of the gemstone itself.
The centerpiece is a 5-carat cushion-cut pink sapphire,
sourced from the alluvial mines of Madagascar. These sapphires are known for their distinctive purple undertones, which are caused by trace amounts of vanadium (V), making this particular stone a typical example of the region’s signature sapphire.
To complement the rich color of the gemstone, the designer uses a “geometric architectural style” of diamond setting. The band is adorned with a harmonious arrangement of Baguette Cut, Brilliant Cut round diamonds, and Square Cut diamonds, creating a balanced and structured setting that gives the effect of the sapphire seemingly floating above the surface of the diamonds.
