During the 2021 Watches & Wonders exhibition, Cartier introduced a new interpretation of the Tank Louis Cartier, a timepiece inspired by the brand’s creations from the 1980s. Through the use of bold color blocks that emphasize the watch’s pure geometric lines, this model pays tribute to Louis Cartier’s timeless design vision.

The watch retains the Tank collection’s iconic rectangular case, whose parallel brancards resemble the treads of a military tank — the origin of its name. Crafted in polished 18k rose gold, the case measures only 6.6 mm thick, offering a refined and comfortable wearing experience.

The dial design reflects strong Art Deco influences, featuring Roman numeral hour markers and a classic railway-style minute track. A play of silver-grey and blue tones enhances the sense of depth: the hour-marker ring appears in blue, while the minute track is rendered in silver-grey. The sunburst finish lends a metallic sheen, and the subtly raised numerals and track add a pleasing tactile contrast.

Inside beats Cartier’s in-house Caliber 1917 MC manual-winding movement, just 2.9 mm thick and offering a 38-hour power reserve.
The watch is paired with an elegant alligator leather strap. A yellow-gold version with a red dial is also available. The retail price is ≈ €13,100.
