The Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Vasco da Gama Limited Edition Chronograph is one of the most remarkable pieces unveiled at SIHH this year. Featuring a blue aventurine dial, it captures the essence of the maritime theme, with a standout external tourbillon and sophisticated mechanical design that makes this piece truly exceptional.
The white gold case has a 44mm diameter and a 15mm thickness, offering a bold presence on the wrist. The dial is divided into two sections by the blue aventurine: the upper half displays the hour/minute hands and chronograph subdial, while the lower half features the prominent external tourbillon, creating a striking sense of depth and layers.
The dial design is complex but beautifully organized:
-
The 12 o’clock position features a Montblanc star-cut diamond marker.
-
The hour/minute subdial integrates a 31-day date wheel, while the 5 o’clock and 7 o’clock positions hold the 30-minute and 60-second chronograph counters, respectively. The counters use a dual-circle design, offering efficient space utilization.
This timepiece is powered by Montblanc’s MB R230 movement, featuring a 21600 vph balance frequency and 50 hours of power reserve. Apart from the external tourbillon structure, the movement also includes practical complications such as stop-seconds, quick-setting hour hand, and a date adjustment function.
Limited to just 60 pieces, the watch is priced at €45,000.
