This emerald ring is part of Tiffany & Co.’s 2016 Blue Book High Jewelry collection, The Art of Transformation. Inspired by the natural flora of the ocean depths, the design uses a double-layered ring structure to highlight the vivid, luminous hue of the central emerald.
The round setting features a distinctive “flying-saucer” form, composed of two curved tiers adorned with contrasting gem arrangements that enhance the depth and complexity of color.
At the center sits a 3.32-carat emerald-cut emerald of radiant, fresh green brilliance. Surrounding it is a motif of waves rendered in diamonds, their elegant curves evoking the perpetual motion of the sea.
Through the diamond “wave” openings, one glimpses the lower tier of the ring, set with an array of colored gemstones — green tourmalines and tsavorites interspersed with blue sapphires — conjuring an underwater scene where ocean blues and seagrass greens intertwine.
The underside of the ring is crafted with an open honeycomb structure, allowing light to pass through freely, maximizing the gemstones’ luminosity and brilliance.
