The Rotonde de Cartier Astrocalendaire combines a perpetual calendar and a tourbillon in an exceptionally complex design. With a 45mm platinum case, it proudly bears the prestigious “Poinçon de Genève” Geneva Seal and is limited to just 100 pieces.
The watch is powered by the Caliber 9459 MC movement, offering a 50-hour power reserve. The movement’s intricate design was created by Cartier’s Chief Movement Designer, Carole Forestier. The calendar features three concentric rotating discs, which display the day, month, and week in an elegant arrangement. The flying tourbillon is positioned at the center of these discs, creating a visual effect reminiscent of an amphitheater.
The entire calendar system is driven by a set of gears, with a complex central cam and gear train. The 31-tooth date disc has three teeth that retract via the cam mechanism to adjust for varying days in each month. The leap year indicator is conveniently displayed on the back of the movement.
