The RICHARD MILLE RM UP-01 Ferrari is undoubtedly the most striking ultra-thin watch of the moment. This timepiece, co-designed with Ferrari, is equipped with a custom-developed movement and an ultra-thin escapement. The entire case has an astonishing thickness of just 1.75mm, making it the thinnest mechanical watch in the world to date.
This also marks the first watch designed jointly by RICHARD MILLE and Ferrari. Its most distinctive feature is that it forgoes the popular “monobloc” case-movement structure of recent ultra-thin watches, instead retaining a complete, separate case, dial, and movement. This ensures the watch possesses excellent shock resistance – RICHARD MILLE states it can withstand accelerations of up to 5000 g, meeting the durability requirements for active wear.
The RM UP-01 Ferrari continues the brand’s persistent tradition of the tonneau-shaped case. The grade 5 titanium case is entirely finished with fine satin-brushing, resulting in an exceptional play of light and shadow. The case measures 51mm x 39mm, with all functional components cleverly “laid out” within this flat plane. A sapphire crystal only 0.45mm thick is fitted over the hour and minute dial at 12 o’clock; a bold red hand indicates the hours, while the minute wheel directly acts as the minute hand. At 1 o’clock, one can admire the operation of the ultra-thin balance wheel with escapement.
On the left side of the case front are two flat crowns. The upper crown is a function selector, and the lower crown is used to wind the movement and set the time. The crowns are surrounded by black ceramic, reducing friction and improving water resistance. Interestingly, the two crowns feature an openworked structure, allowing for easy adjustment with a special tool while enhancing the visual depth of the ultra-thin plane. The Ferrari “Prancing Horse” emblem is laser-engraved at the lower right of the case front.

It is powered by the RM UP-01 manual-winding movement, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 45-hour power reserve. This movement was co-developed by RICHARD MILLE and Audemars Piguet Le Locle. The baseplate and bridges are made of grade 5 titanium, the movement is just 1.18mm thick, and weighs only 2.82 grams.
It is a limited edition of 150 pieces. The reference price is approximately 2,060,000 Euros.
