RICHARD MILLE RM 30-01 Automatic Declutchable Rotor Review

In 2023, RICHARD MILLE introduced the new RICHARD MILLE RM 30-01 Automatic Declutchable Rotor, an evolution of the brand’s iconic tonneau-shaped identity. This upgraded generation highlights a more efficient declutchable rotor system, an enlarged power-reserve indicator, and a re-engineered movement structure that reflects the brand’s dedication to technical innovation.

Upgraded Declutchable Rotor System

The declutchable rotor mechanism, first introduced in the RM 030 in 2011, was engineered to automatically disengage once the mainspring reaches optimal tension, preventing overwinding and mechanical stress.

For the RM 30-01, the system has been completely redesigned to deliver improved torque transfer, smoother disengagement, and higher winding efficiency. The power-reserve display at 9 o’clock now offers a clearer, more intuitive reading of the rotor’s status.

Case Materials and Function Selector

The RICHARD MILLE RM 30-01 Automatic Declutchable Rotor is available in two case materials:

  • Grade 5 titanium
  • 18K rose gold

Both versions feature the signature tonneau case, assembled with RICHARD MILLE spline screws for durability and shock resistance. A function selector at 2 o’clock allows the wearer to switch between:

  • H – Time setting
  • D – Date correction
  • W – Winding

The openworked dial uses a minimalist, numeral-free layout, emphasizing architectural transparency. A large date display at 4 o’clock provides visual balance to the skeletonized structure.

RMAR2 Automatic Skeletonized Movement

The RM 30-01 is powered by the RMAR2 automatic skeletonized movement, featuring:

  • 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz)
  • 55-hour power reserve
  • Skeletonized Grade 5 titanium baseplate
  • PVD-coated and microblasted components
  • Hand-polished bevels and anglage finishing

Visible through the sapphire crystal, the bridges and baseplate reveal multiple layers of finishing that reflect RICHARD MILLE’s haute horlogerie expertise. The watch is fitted with a rubber strap and offers 50 meters of water resistance.

Pricing

  • Titanium version: USD 208,000
  • Rose gold version: USD 253,000
