OMEGA’s Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum is crafted with a platinum case featuring a meteorite subdial, and is powered by the 1:1 replica of the iconic Caliber 321 movement, paying tribute to humanity’s unwavering exploration of space.
The new 42mm case is made from OMEGA’s exclusive “Pt 950 Au 20” platinum alloy, a special precious metal blend consisting of platinum and gold, which results in a brighter hue compared to regular platinum. The case is topped with a box-shaped sapphire crystal, providing a more three-dimensional look to the dial. The black ceramic bezel is adorned with a white enamel-filled tachymeter scale, which includes the much-loved details such as “Dot over 90” and “Diagonal to 70” to replicate the classic design.
The black onyx dial is accented with platinum markers and hands, and retains the standard 3-6-9 layout of subdials: 3 o’clock: 30-minute chronograph counter, 6 o’clock: 12-hour chronograph counter, 9 o’clock: Small seconds counter. At 12 o’clock, the series logo uses a special early font with a long “r” shape, paying homage to the pre-1970s Speedmaster history. The subdials are each set with slices of lunar meteorite, each piece unique in its pattern, perfectly in line with the Moonwatch’s lunar theme.
The watch is powered by the Caliber 321 manual-winding chronograph movement, vibrating at 18,000 vph and offering a 55-hour power reserve. This movement is a faithful recreation of OMEGA’s milestone 321 movement, which features an integrated column wheel chronograph structure that is more complex and difficult to produce than other chronograph movements of its time. This movement is currently exclusive to the high-end Speedmaster collection.
