The timeline traces back to April 2019, when an OMEGA-developed Ultra Deep professional dive watch reached the bottom of the Mariana Trench at a depth of 10,928 meters, accompanying American explorer Victor Vescovo’s submersible and setting a world record for dive depth. This new model is the production version of that record-breaking watch, with OMEGA stating that this production version has been pressure-tested to a depth equivalent to 6,269 meters.
The “Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep” not only offers extreme diving performance but also maintains a case size suitable for daily wear at 45.5mm in diameter and 18.06mm thick. The watch is certified to the ISO 6425:2018 Saturation Diving standard, therefore eliminating the need for a traditional helium escape valve.
The case is made from the newly developed “O-MEGASTEEL” alloy. This high-performance steel is processed using “High-Pressure Electro-Slag Remelting” technology. Its composition includes added nitrogen and manganese, is nickel-free, offers 40% higher hardness than regular stainless steel, along with superior wear and corrosion resistance, and a brighter luster.
It features a classic three-hand layout paired with a deep blue-to-black gradient dial, a visual effect perfectly suited to the “deep dive” theme. The dial details continue the Planet Ocean series’ hallmark prominent index blocks and broad-arrow hands, coated with white Super-LumiNova for excellent legibility. Special “Ultra Deep” and “Water Resistance 6000 m / 20000 ft” inscriptions can be seen at 6 o’clock.
It is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912, beating at 25,200 vibrations per hour. Its twin barrels provide a 60-hour power reserve. This movement is Master Chronometer Certified, equipped with a silicon balance spring resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss, and features a jumping local hour hand function for easy time zone adjustment. The solid caseback is laser-engraved with a “sonar” and “Seahorse” pattern.
It comes on an “O-MEGASTEEL” bracelet. The official price is approximately 11,824 Euros.
