Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Overview
Omega introduced this gold and steel two-tone version of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M at Baselworld 2018. The highlight of this redesign is the return of the first-generation 1993 wave-pattern dial, a signature aesthetic also seen on the models worn by James Bond during the 1990s film era. This release represents one of the most comprehensive upgrades ever made to the Seamaster Diver 300M collection.
The case size has increased from 41 mm to 42 mm, with the thickness up by 1 mm, giving the watch a stronger and more technical presence on the wrist. The ceramic bezel features non-recessed numerals that are filled with Ceragold and then polished. The gently curved cutouts on the bezel echo the laser-engraved wave relief on the dial.
Dial and Case Construction
The dial is crafted from a single piece of Zr02 ceramic, featuring the iconic laser-engraved wave pattern that creates a dynamic interaction with light. The skeletonized hands and enlarged luminous markers ensure excellent readability in low-light and underwater environments.
The helium escape valve at 10 o’clock now supports a revised structure. Even if helium accidentally releases while underwater, the watch maintains a minimum of 50 meters of water resistance, preventing moisture intrusion during saturation diving.
Movement: Master Chronometer 8800
For the first time in the collection, the case back features a sapphire crystal window showcasing the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8800. This movement delivers high accuracy within +5 seconds per day and meets METAS certification, resisting magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. It beats at 25,200 vph and provides a 55-hour power reserve.
Model Variations and Collectability
Beyond this steel-and-gold model, the expanded Omega Seamaster Diver 300M lineup includes more than 14 variations in case materials, bezel colors, and dial treatments. This broad offering caters to both professional divers and collectors who appreciate the connection between the Seamaster and the James Bond film legacy.
