This tourbillon rattrapante is the most complex piece in Montblanc’s 1858 series to date. It adds a rattrapante function to the original tourbillon chronograph structure, which increases the number of movement parts from 341 to 411. A new button at 2 o’clock is dedicated to the rattrapante chronograph function.
The 47mm case is made of 18K white gold, and for the first time, the dial features grand feu enamel, offering more elegance and better legibility than gold dials. The sapphire crystal glass has been treated with a high-temperature curved process, giving it a more rounded appearance from the side.
The skeletonized hand in the center indicates the second time zone, while the vintage Roman numeral subdial at 6 o’clock displays the local time. You can adjust the second time zone by pressing the button at 8 o’clock.
The unique exposed tourbillon structure is the most prominent feature of the 1858 series’ large complicated chronograph. It takes a full 4 minutes to complete one rotation, providing a calming feeling of time slowing down. It also requires less power, and thanks to this structure, the rattrapante and conventional chronograph functions only need one barrel to operate, with a power reserve of up to 55 hours.
Limited to 18 pieces.
