This jewelry set from Swiss jeweler Gübelin’s 2022 “Grace of the Sea Anemone” High Jewelry Collection draws inspiration from the natural inclusions found within Paraiba tourmalines. Exploring the inner world of these vibrant gems, the designer imagined a poetic underwater scene—an elegant sea anemone swaying gently in the ocean current.
Renowned for its striking neon blue hue, the Paraiba tourmaline is the most valuable variety of tourmaline, its color derived from trace amounts of copper (Cu) that evoke the brilliance of tropical seas. The collection’s Paraiba tourmalines are sourced from Mozambique and feature cabochon cuts; the largest stone weighs 7.65 carats, radiating an electric luminosity that perfectly captures the spirit of summer.
The pieces are crafted in white gold, with diamond-set flowing curves that evoke the rhythmic movement of sea anemone tentacles. Scattered along the sinuous lines are colorful gemstones—round-cut pink tourmalines, yellow beryls, tsavorites, orange garnets, and amethysts—creating a joyful and harmonious composition reminiscent of a lively coral reef.
