At the 2017 SIHH, Audemars Piguet unveiled the Diamond Outrage, the final creation in its trilogy of diamond-set haute joaillerie bracelet watches. Drawing inspiration from snow-covered pine forests in winter, the designers used conical sapphire structures to evoke the texture and silhouette of pine trees — the shimmering cones extend seamlessly from the watch cover to the bracelet, forming a dazzling, sculptural “forest” on the wrist.
This extraordinary timepiece is set with 11,043 blue sapphires, totaling 65.47 carats, arranged using the snow-setting technique. The color gradation flows from deep blue at the base of each cone to light blue at the tip, while the cones themselves vary in height, transitioning from the smoother surface of the cover to the more dynamic, spiked forms of the bracelet — as if the trees were gradually growing upward.
A discreet button beneath the cover allows the wearer to gently open the lid, revealing an octagonal mirrored dial that gleams with light. Two blue hands, powered by the Caliber 2701 quartz movement, indicate the time and visually harmonize with the sapphires adorning the bracelet.
To enhance comfort and wearability, the interior of the bracelet has been skeletonized, exposing a network of hexagonal structures beneath each cone — a meticulously engineered honeycomb framework that ensures both strength and lightness.
