In the past two years, Tudor’s Heritage Black Bay has become one of the most popular dive watches under 5,000 CHF. In 2012, it was the “warm-tone version” with a deep red bezel and gold markers. This year, at Baselworld, the brand finally launched a cooler deep blue version, which perfectly matches the theme of “diving.”It still features a 41mm stainless steel case, and the oversized crown is a detail that differentiates it from the 1970s models. Don’t underestimate this small change—it noticeably improves the winding and adjustment experience, making it more convenient.
The bezel is deep blue with a 0-15 minute scale for diving, and, for safety reasons, the bezel only rotates counterclockwise to prevent exceeding the maximum underwater stay time. The dial uses the standard three-hand layout with a deep black background. The hour markers are framed in silver, and the hour and second hands have diamond-shaped tips for enhanced visibility, making it easy to read the time even in deep-water conditions. It is powered by the T600 movement with a 38-hour power reserve, which is the only downside we feel for this otherwise excellent watch.
The watch comes with a steel bracelet, a blue leather strap, and an additional fabric strap. We think the fabric strap really complements the watch’s overall vibe.
