In 2023, Louis Vuitton unveiled the new-generation Tambour, a complete reimagining of the brand’s signature drum-shaped watch. The redesigned case is now only 8.3 mm thick, giving the model a slimmer and more refined profile suited to dressier wear, while housing La Fabrique du Temps’ first independently developed automatic three-hand movement — the LFT023. Both the construction and finishing of the watch reflect the highest standards of haute horlogerie.
The 40 mm stainless steel case features clean, compact lines and a beautifully satin-brushed and polished finish. The vertical bezel is engraved in relief with the Louis Vuitton lettering. The curved ergonomic caseback ensures enhanced comfort on the wrist and contributes to the watch’s visually thinner appearance.
The collection is available in two dial variations — deep blue and silver-grey. Both adopt a stepped small-seconds layout, with the engraved minute track forming a rhythmic interplay with the raised hour markers. The central section of the dial is vertically brushed, while the minute ring has a matte finish, and the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock is decorated with a circular snailing pattern. The combination of multiple textures and finishes gives the dial remarkable depth and refinement
For the first time, the “PARIS” inscription appears at 12 o’clock, paying tribute to the brand’s birthplace. At 6 o’clock, the inscription “FAB. EN SUISSE” (“Made in Switzerland”) honors the craftsmanship of La Fabrique du Temps, Louis Vuitton’s fine watchmaking atelier.
Powering the watch is the new LFT023 automatic movement, offering a 50-hour power reserve. Designed entirely in-house by La Fabrique du Temps, the movement is chronometer-certified by the Geneva Observatory. Its barrel cover is engraved with a Monogram flower motif, while the micro-rotor in solid gold features an engraved triangular pattern composed of LV initials. The movement bridges display hand-polished anglage, showcasing the manufacture’s artisanal finishing.
The new-generation Tambour is also Louis Vuitton’s first watch to feature an integrated bracelet. The stainless steel links taper elegantly from the case, forming a fluid, streamlined silhouette.
