Presented at the 2014 SIHH, the Richard Mille RM 07-01 is one of the brand’s most significant releases, specifically designed for women but with a completely non-traditional approach. The watch uses complex mechanical design and lightweight, elegant materials to embody the unique charm of women, diverging from typical design conventions for ladies’ timepieces.
The case is crafted from a mix of white ceramic and red gold, seamlessly integrating with the highly skeletonized CRMA2 movement. Instead of the usual outer bezel structure, the movement is secured directly into the case with two titanium screws, holding it firmly in place on the case’s fixed rubber mounts. The case back and bridge are both made of grade 5 titanium, ensuring adequate support and strength.
The dial features black onyx at its center, with small diamonds surrounding it—this is the most feminine element of the design. 12 drop-shaped hour markers are placed directly on the flange, and each marker is filled with luminescent paint inside a hollow frame, showcasing impeccable detail.
True to Richard Mille’s signature design, the watch features a variable geometry winding rotor, equipped with 4 adjustment screws. This allows the winding speed to adjust automatically based on the wearer’s level of physical activity—speeding up the winding during casual movement and slowing it down during intense activity to ensure stable movement.
With a 50-hour power reserve, it’s slightly below the expected mark. However, if it offered a three-day power reserve, it would be perfect.
