A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Time Zone Review
A. Lange & Söhne released this upgraded Lange 1 Time Zone world time watch in 2020, equipped with the in-house L141.1 movement. The model continues the brand’s iconic asymmetric design while improving legibility and adding new traveler-focused functions. For collectors seeking a refined travel watch with mechanical depth, this A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Time Zone delivers both elegance and functionality.

The watch maintains its classic 41.9 mm case. The pusher at 8 o’clock allows quick switching of the second time-zone city, while the 10 o’clock pusher adjusts the big date. These pushers are intentionally firm, preventing accidental activation during daily wear. This level of tactile engineering underscores the precision and reliability for which Lange is known.
The champagne dial preserves the celebrated asymmetric layout of the Lange 1 series. One of the most practical updates is the redesigned day/night indicator. Previously a small arrow, it is now a rotating ring placed between the primary and secondary time displays. The ring rotates every 24 hours: the blue half indicates night, while the lighter half represents daytime. This makes reading both zones remarkably intuitive, even at a glance.

At 5 o’clock, the second time-zone sub-dial is paired with a three-dimensional triangular indicator and a redesigned 24-city ring. The city names use a sharper, bolder typeface, enhancing visual balance and readability across the dial.
Another important enhancement is the daylight saving time (DST) indicator. The triangular pointer includes a small aperture: when it turns red, the corresponding city observes DST. If the window remains light-colored, DST does not apply. Although users must still track the specific DST period manually, this feature remains extremely useful for frequent international travelers.

The watch also retains the time-zone synchronisation mechanism. Pull the crown to the second position and hold the 8 o’clock pusher—the second time-zone hour hand stays fixed, allowing independent setting of the main-dial time. This ensures precise alignment when traveling between regions with non-standard offsets.

At the heart of the watch lies the manual-wound L141.1 calibre, beating at 21,600 vph with a 72-hour power reserve. This is the brand’s 65th in-house movement, featuring a free-sprung balance, hand-engraved balance cock, and the iconic untreated German silver three-quarter plate that slowly patinates with time.
The watch comes on an alligator leather strap and is limited to 100 pieces, priced at 415,000 RMB.
