Hermès debuted the new Arceau Le Temps Suspendu at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2025, continuing the iconic “time suspension” layout first introduced in 2011. What’s special in this new version is the transparent sapphire crystal at the center of the dial, which allows a clear view of the movement’s workings and mechanical beauty.
The 42 mm case is crafted in 18K white gold, paired with the Arceau line’s signature asymmetrical stirrup-shaped lugs, with fluid yet powerful lines. On the side of the case, the crown sits at 2 o’clock, while at 9 o’clock a pusher activates the time-suspension function.
The champagne-colored dial is finished with different textures for distinct functional zones: the hour/minute chapter ring is sunburst-brushed, adorned with “running” Arabic numerals, while the retrograde date disc (at 5 o’clock) and the “time suspended” sector at 12 o’clock use a frosted finish. Through the central sapphire window, one can observe the underlying gear train in motion.
When the user presses the pusher at 9 o’clock, the “time suspend” mode activates: the hour and minute hands instantly jump to flanking the 12 o’clock position—an area that doesn’t correspond to any real time—allowing one to “pause” time and temporarily leave the cares of the world behind.
Inside ticks the H1837 automatic caliber, running at 28,800 vph with a 45-hour power reserve. Despite the “time suspend” function, the movement continues running (i.e. it never stops), and when the pusher is pressed again the hands return to the correct current time. The movement’s base plate is satin-brushed and decorated, with bridges and rotor bearing Hermès’s “H” motif.
The watch is presented on a champagne-colored alligator strap. The official Chinese retail price is €38,000.
