This diamond ring is part of Chopard’s 2019 High Jewelry collection, “Magical Setting.” The collection introduces an innovative invisible setting technique that conceals the metal structure almost entirely, allowing diamonds and emeralds to appear as if they were magically floating above the surface. True to its name, “Magical Setting” embodies the illusion of suspended light and freedom from visible settings.
Chopard’s fascination with liberated gemstones dates back to the 1976 “Happy Diamonds” collection, where diamonds were encased within individual gold bezels, freely moving between sapphire crystals. Magical Setting takes this concept even further, creating intricate floral compositions in which the metalwork is hidden beneath the gemstones, forming a luminous, crown-like cluster that seems to defy gravity.

The ring features a three-tiered design with subtle height variations between the central and surrounding stones. At the center lies a round brilliant-cut diamond, secured by traditional prongs to maximize brilliance. Encircling it are eight smaller round diamonds, arranged like petals in a perfectly concealed setting. The outermost layer showcases eight large Colombian emeralds in vivid green, their facets and girdles fully visible. Two additional emeralds adorn the shank, extending the floral silhouette seamlessly along the band.

From the side view, the craftsmanship behind the Magical Setting is revealed. Drawing inspiration from the semi-bezel technique, Chopard’s artisans crafted a petal-shaped base composed of eight semi-bezel settings. This hidden framework fits precisely beneath the outer emeralds, rendering the metal structure invisible from above. The result is an illusion of pure radiance — gemstones that appear weightless, untouched by any trace of gold or claw.
