They meet at the center of the bridge at noon and midnight, a charming interpretation of time passing through emotion. This reinterpretation introduces a more refined dial structure and a more expressive animation sequence while maintaining the romantic storytelling that defines the collection.
One major improvement is the redesigned movement that allows the lovers to pause for an instant at exactly 12:00 before reaching each other. This poetic pause is one of the most technically demanding elements of the mechanism. The moon positioned on the dial also rises higher, enriching the composition and reinforcing the emotional climax of the lovers’ meeting.
To let the wearer enjoy the animation at any moment, a button at 7 o’clock activates a graceful independent sequence powered entirely by the energy of the press. The character closer to the center moves first, waits, and then meets the other lover for a kiss. Since the animation uses its own mechanical power, it does not affect the mainspring or timekeeping precision.
The dial is crafted in Colored Grisaille Enamel using purple-pink tones. Each dial requires 30 to 40 hours of work and more than ten firings. The bridge is sculpted from white gold and rose gold, finished through techniques such as mirror polishing and satin brushing to create depth and elegant contrast.
Inside the 38 mm case is a self-winding movement with a 30-hour power reserve and a retrograde module developed exclusively for Van Cleef & Arpels. The caseback depicts the lovers embracing beneath a starry sky, engraved with fine sculptural detail. This storytelling continues the Maison’s tradition of merging high watchmaking with narrative artistry.
