Panerai Radiomir 3 Days Acciaio Watch

The Radiomir 3 Days Acciaio with its brown gradient dial is one of Panerai’s 2017 SIHH novelties, inspired by the 1938 Ref. 3646 Type A diving watch. It faithfully revives the cushion-shaped case and twelve-sided bezel of the original, while the brown fumé finish reproduces the aged effect caused by the fading of the radium-based luminous material used on early Panerai dials.

The 47mm stainless steel case is fitted with a large onion-shaped crown, making winding and adjustment easy. The twelve-sided bezel is engraved with the historical inscription “Officine Panerai – Brevettato” (Panerai – Patented), a detail taken directly from vintage models. The two-hand display and highly legible Arabic numeral hour markers embody the unmistakable Panerai aesthetic.
The brown gradient dial, brightening gradually from the edges toward the center, captures the warm tone of vintage Panerai watches. In the 1930s, Panerai used radium-based luminous powder in its “sandwich” dials; over time, the radiation caused the black dials to fade into brown. This model’s gradient finish is a deliberate homage to that historic transformation.
The caseback, echoing the twelve-sided form of the bezel, features a sapphire crystal window revealing the in-house P.3000 manual-winding movement, which provides a 72-hour (3-day) power reserve. The caliber includes a quick time-setting mechanism that allows the hour hand to be adjusted independently without stopping the minute hand.

The watch comes on a brown leather strap, easily interchangeable thanks to the removable wire-lug system. The official retail price is USD 9,800.
