In celebration of the 2015 Lunar New Year, Panerai introduced the Luminor 1950 Sealand 3 Days Automatic Acciaio “Year of the Goat”, marking the seventh edition in its Chinese zodiac-inspired series. As always, the model is limited to 100 pieces worldwide, combining Panerai’s Italian design heritage with intricate hand-engraved craftsmanship.
The signature protective cover on the dial is adorned with a finely detailed image of a goat, symbolizing peace and prosperity. Each motif is entirely hand-engraved by Italian master artisans using the ancient “sparsello” technique. The process begins by engraving fine grooves into the steel surface, polishing them to perfection, and then delicately inlaying gold threads one by one, hammered into place and refined until the design achieves its vibrant relief effect.
Housed in a 44mm brushed stainless steel case, the watch features a grey dial with a date display at 3 o’clock and a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. Inside beats the in-house P.9000 automatic movement, offering a 3-day power reserve (72 hours) and operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. This was the first Sealand edition to feature Panerai’s fully in-house calibre, marking a step forward in the brand’s technical independence.
The timepiece comes with a leather strap and maintains Panerai’s hallmark crown-protecting bridge. Its water resistance reaches 100 meters, ensuring both functionality and durability behind its refined artistry.
