Cartier introduced this Essaouira jewelry set in its 2021 “Sixième Sens” High Jewelry collection. It skillfully blends diverse gemstone cuts and shapes – the vintage-style “Tutti Frutti” colored gems collide with modern geometric squares and circular gems, creating a visually dazzling effect.

The history of “Tutti Frutti” jewelry can be traced back to the 1920s Art Deco period. In 1911, Jacques Cartier, a third-generation heir, discovered colored gemstones carved into leaf and berry motifs during his travels in India. He brought this gemstone artistry back to the French workshops, ultimately leading to the creation of the “Tutti Frutti” style that fused Eastern and Western aesthetics.

This collection specifically selects gems of exceptional clarity, which are then meticulously hand-carved to achieve a glistening, dewdrop-like texture reminiscent of ripe fruit. The top of each “berry” is adorned with a delicate square-shaped gemstone setting, creating a contrast with the rounded fruit silhouettes and enhancing the geometric beauty.

The designer employs a fresh blue-green color palette, continuing the classic Cartier “Peacock Motif” color scheme:
Blue chalcedony offers a soft, hazy light blue.
Emeralds contribute a rich, vibrant green.
Turquoise displays a saturated greenish-blue.
Sapphires provide a deep blue tone.
These are accented by black onyx and colorless diamonds, showcasing remarkable depth and layering.

The complete set consists of four pieces:
The necklace and bracelet are composed of exquisitely carved fruity-form beads, creating a continuous, undulating and dynamic line.
The ring features a dual-main-stone design, where blue chalcedony and emerald complement each other perfectly.
The ear pendants are elegantly assembled from an alternation of carved fruity motifs and geometrically cut square colored gemstones, resulting in a refined and enchanting style.
