The Ballon Bleu de Cartier Dual Time Zone Double Jumping Hour Tourbillon is the first model in the Ballon Bleu collection designed with travel in mind. The dial features two small jumping hour sub-dials that display the time for both the departure and destination locations, making it an ideal watch for globe-trotting watch enthusiasts.
The most complex technical feature of this timepiece is the double time zone jumping hour, which jumps precisely at the end of every hour. Two levers, powered by springs, instantly reset to their starting position, rotating two gears simultaneously by one twelfth of a turn, causing each sub-dial to point to the next hour marker. This jump is accompanied by a sharp, crisp sound, and through the skeletonized dial, you can observe the entire mechanical movement.
Another highlight is the meticulous proportioning of the entire dial — even with the inclusion of the tourbillon, dual time zone, and double jumping hour complications, the watch maintains excellent readability. The blue steel hands and distinct fonts for the hour markers ensure a visually clear reading experience.
Powered by Cartier’s in-house 9456MC movement, the floating tourbillon frame is designed with the Cartier logo. The skeletonized dial and transparent case back allow enthusiasts to appreciate the intricate lever movement details. Each movement is individually numbered and carries the Geneva Seal.
Despite the 46mm diameter, the watch’s streamlined design ensures it fits comfortably on the wrist. The combination of the crocodile leather strap and platinum case exudes elegance.
