Among Blancpain’s recent creations, the Villeret Carrousel Phases de Lune stands out as one of the most refined and understated interpretations of the brand’s signature carrousel complication. It marks the first time that the carrousel has been combined with both a date and moon phase display, blending mechanical mastery with timeless elegance. The 42 mm 18K rose gold case frames a grand feu enamel dial, whose purity and depth reflect Blancpain’s mastery of traditional enameling. The layout is exquisitely balanced: the outermost ring features Arabic numerals for the date, indicated by a blued serpentine hand, while the inner Roman numerals mark the hours. This delicate visual layering evokes the poetic passage of time — each midnight, the serpentine hand advances by one day.
At 6 o’clock, the moon phase display completes its cycle every 29.5 days, rendered with Blancpain’s hallmark artistic detail. The openworked leaf-shaped hands add a touch of refinement while maintaining harmony with the carrousel’s technical architecture visible through the sapphire case back.
Powering the watch is the in-house Calibre 225L, an automatic movement whose carrousel cage alone comprises 61 components. Equipped with a silicon balance spring and five-day power reserve (120 hours), it delivers both precision and endurance.
A production model rather than a limited edition, this Carrousel is an accessible expression of Blancpain’s traditional complications — elegant, wearable, and deeply poetic.
