Hermès returns once again to its equestrian roots with a watch that showcases a number of distinctive design elements: asymmetric stirrup-shaped lugs, a “Bradoon” strap stitched using saddle technique, and italicized Arabic numerals that seem to leap forward like a horse in motion.
The 43mm stainless steel case is bold yet refined. The blued-steel hands and ivory-white dial ensure excellent legibility, while the date window positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock integrates seamlessly with the small seconds and chronograph sub-dials, maintaining both balance and readability. The design is elegant and functional in equal measure.
The “Bradoon” strap connecting the case and the band draws direct inspiration from equestrian tack — specifically, the bit used by riders to guide their horses. Positioned between the horse’s front incisors and molars, the bit allows varying degrees of control and communication depending on its design and the rider’s skill.
Symbolically, this element serves as a reminder to master time — not to let it slip away untamed.
