Audemars Piguet is one of the few watchmakers capable of uniting a minute repeater, a tourbillon, and a chronograph within a single timepiece. The Minute Repeater Tourbillon Chronograph stands as one of the most captivating creations presented in Geneva this year.
The minute repeater alone represents the pinnacle of mechanical complexity — yet Audemars Piguet has combined it with a chronograph and a tourbillon, an achievement that fully justifies the impressive 47mm case diameter.
To achieve the best possible acoustic performance, the case middle is crafted in titanium, while the bezel is made of 18K white gold. This combination allows the chime to resonate with remarkable clarity and depth, the lightweight yet rigid titanium amplifying the purity of the sound.
The square-shaped dial takes inspiration from a 1920s “cushion-shaped” pocket watch by Audemars Piguet. Its smoked finish, achieved through fine brushing and polishing, gives off a cool, timeless elegance. Three gold hands indicate the hours, minutes, and seconds, while two black hands mark the chronograph seconds and hours, offering both refined detailing and excellent legibility.
Inside beats the hand-wound Calibre 2874, composed of 504 parts and 38 jewels, delivering a 48-hour power reserve. The tourbillon at 6 o’clock, formed of 83 individual components, can be admired through the sapphire case back — as can the hammers and racks of the minute repeater mechanism. Every component is hand-finished, featuring grained upper surfaces and finely satin-brushed undersides.
