The design is inspired by poppy flower motifs from jewelry of the 1950s. The piece can be separated into a brooch and a wristwatch for different wears. It features Van Cleef & Arpels’ renowned secret jewelry setting technique to embed rubies, sapphires, and diamonds in the brooch part.
The magic of the secret setting technique lies in first cutting the gemstones into specific shapes and then embedding each one into gold tracks. Once set, the gemstones perfectly cover the surface of the jewelry, while the gold tracks at the bottom are completely concealed. Each Pavot Mystérieux jewelry watch requires over 600 hours of dedicated secret setting work during its creation.
Another highlight of this watch is its dial opening mechanism: by gently pressing one of the petals, the flower’s center opens, revealing a pearl mother-of-pearl dial.
