At Baselworld 2015, Chopard introduced its only regulator-style timepiece of the year — the L.U.C Regulator. Compared with the previous generation from 2006, this model features a significantly refined design while maintaining its hallmark of four barrels — delivering an exceptional 216-hour (9-day) power reserve, one of the longest in modern watchmaking.
The new L.U.C Regulator offers improved legibility through a redesigned dial layout with five subdials, each marked by black Arabic numerals:
-
Central minute hand
-
Power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock
-
Local time display at 3 o’clock
-
Small seconds at 6 o’clock
-
Second time zone at 9 o’clock
To further enhance readability, the local hour and minute hands are rendered in gold sword-shaped hands, while the remaining indicators use black hands.
A corrector button at 8 o’clock on the case allows for easy, independent adjustment of the second time zone hour hand — a practical touch for frequent travelers.
The 43 mm case, crafted from 18 K rose gold, is only 9.78 mm thick and houses the hand-wound L.U.C Calibre 98.02-L. This movement, certified by both COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute) and the Poinçon de Genève (Geneva Seal), features four stacked barrels providing an extraordinary 216-hour power reserve.
In recent years, the regulator display has gained renewed popularity among watch enthusiasts, and Chopard’s interpretation showcases the brand’s distinctive refinement and technical excellence.
