IWC has released this special limited edition of the Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days to commemorate the 2016 Beijing International Film Festival, featuring a clean black-and-white aesthetic that pays tribute to the era of analog film.
The 45mm stainless steel case frames a silver-plated dial accented with black hands and hour markers, while the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock is rendered in black for striking contrast. At 9 o’clock, the eight-day power reserve indicator features a red zone marking the final two days of reserve—an elegant yet practical reminder to wind the watch.
Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire crystal caseback decorated with the Beijing International Film Festival’s film reel emblem, symbolically resonating with the motion of the movement beneath.
Powering this timepiece is IWC’s in-house Caliber 59210 manual-winding movement, an evolution of the brand’s Caliber 50000 series. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it features an oversized single barrel that provides an impressive 192-hour (8-day) power reserve, ensuring more than a week of continuous operation on a full wind.
This model is limited to 50 pieces.
